Smile

A question I have been getting quite a bit over the last several months.
”Are you wearing that smile?”
I have also been encouraged to share it with others. I was at a happy hour with a co-worker who had kind of a rough week. She is smart. Quick. Resourceful. Knows her stuff as a family law attorney. Young. Beautiful. We were celebrating our birthdays and the end of a long work week.
My friend texted me while I was out with her. When I filled him in on what I was doing, he encouraged me this:
“Give her a smile tonight!”

Share kindness and joy with her.
I don’t want to focus on just the physical parts of smiling. Yes, there is something incredibly attractive and magnetic and infectious when we see someone with a happy countenance. I am instantly drawn to people who smile at me. They are approachable. They espouse openness and a willingness to engage with others.
Smiles are contagious. I want to be completely and utterly infectious and invite others in.
The world could use a lot more kindness and love and joy and goodness. Especially right now. We are still battling the effects of a lockdown, and a contentious and ugly election. People are still reeling.
I want to see more smiles. A smile is the universal language of kindness.
I want less information about what one political party is doing or not doing. I am informed, don’t get me wrong. But, I am tired of my soul feeling tired and stressed about all of the news and possible dangers and emergencies.
That is not the life I want to live. And certainly not the kind of way I want my kids to live.
Today, I want each of you to check in and make sure you wore a smile today. Identify what made you grin. Did you share that with another? Did someone in your life, circle, job, ministry, neighborhood need yours today?
Go infect your world with kindness and love and joy and goodness. God knows His people need so much more of it.
For after all, it is like a healing balm to the soul.
“A joyful heart makes a face cheerful, but a sad heart produces a broken spirit.”
Proverbs 15:13 CSB
Share your smile, share your cheerful heart today.
Smiling wide,
Tiffany Rhea
