Every Victory

Yesterday, my friend got some pretty devastating news regarding her health. In one single moment, she was suddenly facing the reality of a situation she had hoped and prayed she would never be in. And, at her young age, would never be in.

But alas, life doesn’t always go the way we hope, does it?

Divorce. Disease. Death. Heartache. Chaos. Destruction. It all intermingles with the beautiful. They coexist alongside the smiles of friends. A child’s belly laugh. The tender kisses of a lover. The realities of dreams realized. Victories and the highs of living life.

What a strange, mysterious and gorgeous world.

While coping with the news regarding my friend, I came home from work needing to move my body. Movement has always been a way for me to process and work through whatever may weigh my heart down. So I attempted to run, but then, this song came on from my running playlist.

A worship song.

I couldn’t run anymore. I had to walk. And I played this song over, and over, and over again.

Every Victory by The Belonging Co. and Danny Gokey.

The chorus. The entire song, really. Just a powerful reminder of who ultimately has us. Who is greater. Who is stronger. In whom we ultimately already have victory in.

One name, one name holds every victory
One voice that silences the enemy
One king who reigns for all eternity
Jesus, Jesus

In every single detail of our lives. No matter what battles we may face tomorrow. There is ultimately One name that we can place all of our hope and trust and stand firm in.

While thinking of my friend and praying for her, I Just kept picturing her laying in her bed, her mind probably swirling with all the what if’s and fears and unknowns. Her husband and her children probably came to mind. I kept praying for peace. But really, how does one have peace when your world was just disrupted?

I don’t have the answer to that except Jesus.

There’s that name again.

That One name.

This isn’t a crutch that we pull out of our hat in order to make ourselves feel better. We don’t only call on God when things are tough. He is not a genie in order to grant us all of our wishes.

Trust me.

Because I believe God is good and faithful to us all the time, even when we don’t see it or recognize it.

What I want to drive home to every single person is that no matter what is happening in or around us, those of us who know Christ and trust Him and believe Him have a firm foundation.

Our physical and emotional selves may be rattled. We may be thrown to the wolves or struggling to keep our heads above deep waters. This world can be so hard at times. But our hope is secure.

We know who has us. We know Him. This isn’t a fairy tale. This isn’t mythology with overly important little gods who throw temper tantrums when they don’t get their way.

We know the Way. The Truth and the Life.

Ultimately, we already have victory over every circumstance. We know how it all ends. We don’t know what happens during our time on this earth. There is just no way for us to even predict our futures. God has those too and they are far greater than we could ever imagine.

Even so, our last breath could be today. We just don’t know.

But we know Him. We know Jesus. We can trust Him and place all our hope in Him.

Every Victory belongs to the Lord.

He has me. He has you.

He has us.

That one Name.

Praying for you all today.

Tiffany Rhea
