Hi Sister Friends!
I had been thinking a great deal about the tools and resources that I use while trying to work on mission and for keeping my faith alive, especially when turmoil hits the fan and it appears everywhere we look, people are searching for good news.
The good news is? We have good news!
Yes, that's right! I know I sound like a broken record right now, but I don't care. I think it is incredibly important that we don't waste this time that we have to be human and to love our neighbors and tell every single person we know about the hope and peace that is found only in Jesus.
Do a happy dance, y'all.
I wanted to share with you a few resources for you that I think would be really helpful for you as you go about your mission work and to encourage you to use the gifts and abilities God has given you. From bible study, discipleship training, even bible study, I think having additional tools and resources in your tool belt can prepare you and equip you for the task at hand...no matter what that specific task will be. We will all be doing very different task, jobs and ministries. Are you a writer? Singer? Entrepreneur? CEO? Grocery worker? Health care worker?
Who are your people? Who are you burdened to serve? It is crucial to recognize who you are serving and what you have for those people. One of the best pieces of advice I have ever is that I cannot be all the things to everyone. That it is important that I recognize who my audience is and who I am called to serve and love upon and craft my messages to truly help them. Otherwise, I am helping no one.
Let's start with books.
I have created an Amazon store that you are free to check out and it contains a section of my favorite resources and books for the woman who loves Jesus and wants to impact Kingdom. Soon, I will have visible on the blog for easy access for all of you, so that way you don't have to search through all of my blog posts to find it. But you can click on this link here. For now, I highly recommend you grab a couple of these books that I think every gal should read!
1. Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
2. You Are The Girl For The Job by Jess Connolly
3. Jesus Over Everything by Lisa Whittle
4. Own Your Life by Sally Clarkson
5. The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann
6. Imperfect Courage by Jessica Honegger
Bible Study Tools:
I am a sucker for a good tool when it comes to study my bible. The truth is, I am not an educated theologian. I don't think you need to go to seminary in order to be able to share the gospel and to live on mission. Heck, if I am being real honest, I don't even believe that bible college or seminary is necessary in order for you to work in vocational ministry. Is it good? YES! Will you be given resources and tools more readily as opposed to trying to figure it out on your own? Absolutely. That is just the nature of secondary education. However, I also fully believe that God fully equips those He calls, and lucky for all of us, there have been some super smart and generous people who have created those tools for us so that we can study His word and grasp a clearer understanding of what God is teaching us and to then go forth and make disciples. Holla!
Here are a couple that I use:
1. Logos Bible Software: I had seen demonstrations of this software way back when I used to attend Catalyst conferences in Orange County, CA. They have a basics version that you can download as an app on your computer and you can do your study, get commentary on specific text, take notes (great if you do sermon or teaching prep), and more. A lot of tools are available in the free version, but there are packages you can upgrade to if you are wanting specific books or tools for the type of prep you are desiring.
2. Biblestudytools.com: I still use this one a great deal, as it is free and incredibly useful. Great for if you want to read a passage of scripture in a different translation, would like insight into commentary on text, and you can even do a word study. Most gravitate toward this site since it doesn't necessarily require any downloading or purchase and you can do quite a bit with this website in terms of bible study.
I want to point out that you don't necessarily have to do all of these extras in order to study your bible. But, if you are like me and you want to know as much as you can and gain a better and clearer understanding of what you are reading, why it is important, and how you can apply it not only to your own life but to those you serve, then I think the extra tools are incredibly beneficial. Or maybe I am just extra and these kinds of things excite me. Ha!
Communities for a Woman on Mission.
I am an introvert naturally, but I do long for community. Over these last two years, God has really shown me how incredible important it is to connect with like minded women and to allow oneself to be open, vulnerable, real and develop friendships. We were not meant to walk this life alone. Being a woman on mission can feel very lonely and isolating, and how ironic, a lot of us are being forced into isolation right now. Thank you Jesus for the internet and Zoom and for these online communities that some amazing women had the forethought to create.
1. She Works His Way: This is for women who work and want to keep Jesus the main thing. They make it very clear that this is not about the #girlboss life. God is Lord of our lives and our businesses. This is also not a replacement for biblical community (ie the church). It is an additional community for women who have businesses or lead or work in some capacity and they want to keep the main thing, the main thing. If this is you, join their membership. They live training, masterminds, classes and more. Plus, you will love Michelle Myers. She is a teeny tiny ball of energy and is an incredible leader.
If Gathering: Discipleship. Need I say more. They also have a community called the Discipleship Collective (which I just became a member of) for those of you who are called to Disciple and desire to be equipped in this area.
That is all I have for you today, but don't worry, I will add as I go along. I am always discovering new communities, companies and people that I just fall I love with. And I want you to fall in love with them too.
And did you see? If you sign up for my newsletter, you will get a FREE 3 day Devotional. In Him,
Tiffany
