I am a huge believer in supporting companies that run on mission. Whether you choose to join in on their mission and become an advocate, member, affiliate or just a consumer, where you put your dollars and in whom you choose to invest says a lot about what you are for.
Over the last 5 years, I have been cleaning out my bathroom and swapping out my cosmetics and personal care products for products that are safer, cleaner, more transparent and open to change when necessary. They do more than just sell a product to consumers in order to line their pockets. In fact, the companies that I choose to buy from, while they do have incredible products, choose to focus more on the people they are trying to serve than just focusing on their profits.
They truly exemplify people over profit. And I truly believe a big part of that is because these companies have chosen to invite people behind the scenes and connect with their consumers in ways companies never would before. I try to share what companies I purchase from on my social media pages, and I will make more of an effort to create a resource here on my blog to make it easy for you to find.
Two years ago, I took a chance on a company called Beautycounter. A gal I was following on Instagram happened to be a consultant, so I headed to her website and picked myself up some concealer, a charcoal bar soap and some sun care products.
I was a little unsure about investing a ton of money into skin care or their other products, because while I knew enough about Beautycounter, I still wasn't sure I would love it. However, when my small order arrived, I instantly ripped open the box and tried everything that day!
And I was in love. Every product I had purchased was heaven and my daughter, who was 11 at the time, kept trying to steal my charcoal bar.
While I loved the products I purchased with Beautycounter, I still hadn't made the leap to buy a skin care regimen. I am not shy or afraid to invest in good skin care, but I am picky about whether or not it will work for me.
Well, this last weekend, I decided to take the leap and grab myself some more better beauty and let me tell you. I am not disappointed. Not only is the packaging gorgeous, but I have the utmost confidence that these products are tested to be safer for me and for my family to use, they are high quality and high performing, and they are driven to put people over profit. Beautycounter is so popular because it has become way more than just selling a tube of lipstick. They are determined to be advocates for change in the beauty industry. More transparency and updates to laws (which haven't been updated since 1938!) and giving them lip by showing up and demanding that Congress recognize and take action.
But while we wait, we get to be a part of the solution. We do this by choosing products that are safer, healthier, provide transparency and allow you to see the truth behind what you are using on your body, and on your family. Know better do better.
I am a huge advocate of whole wellness and I want this space to be a resource for you so that you can find the best products, tools, information that will best serve you and your family. You have to do the research and discover what is best for you. I will do my best to provide what I learn and discover for you, but the rest, you have got to go with it. It is your life, your family, your home.
A couple of things that I think are really important for you to know:
*Beautycounter is committed to "The Never List". You will find that in nearly all of their marketing and packaging, they make it clear that there are specific ingredients they refuse to use in the formulation of their products. You can find The Never List here.
*They are passionate about being agents of change. They truly want to get safer products into the hands of every person. Notice that I didn't say they just wanted to get Beautycounter products into the hands of everyone, although that would be amazing. But safer products overall. They want other companies who desire better standards to join in the fight. People over profit. I have used other amazing, cleaner products from different companies who are also advocating for change. Beautycounter is just one of those companies that is allowing you to be a part of the movement physically by inviting you to join them in this incredible mission. What we put on our bodies and on the bodies of our children matter. It matters to me, and I know it matters to a lot of you.
*For only the second time ever, if you have been thinking of joining the mission of #BetterBeauty and using your voice for change, Beautycounter is offering free enrollment this month only (a $98 value!) Join the movement to make a small side hustle, a big side hustle, or simply to share with your friends at a discount. Make it whatever you wish. But Beautycounter believes in what they are doing so much that they are offering this huge opportunity for you. Beauty and impact definitely go hand in hand.
