If you are brand new to the idea of using safer products on yourself or on your children, have no fear. I realize that at first glance, it can be really intimidating, especially if you are being informed that you need to change everything all at the same time. Or, another factor that made me hesitant at first to switch from the products was price, and performance.
First, please do not feel any pressure whatsoever to buy everything just because someone says it is safer and better for you. That may be true, but you are the consumer and you have a choice. Personally, for me, I started first with what needed to be replenished and used that time to make the switch and try something brand new. I didn't switch everything at the same time.
The easiest switch for most of us are personal care items. They are for me. My first switch was my face wash. I was running low on the conventional product I had been using without fail for years, and I knew that I would need to replace it, so I purchased from a company that I had been following for a few months, waiting for the right time to buy.
For you, I want you to first take inventory of what you currently have in stock and what you are running low on. If you are running low on a few key items (usually face wash, lotion, moisturizers are what people typically switch first), consider those your first product switches.
Remember, you don't have to switch everything at once. Unless you want to, but that would be really expensive if you are brand new. Due to the fact that most of us are operating on a budget and don't have oodles of money just laying around, I highly recommend you don't do that. Again, unless you want to.
Here are some products you can start with as you begin your brand new journey of switching to safer and better beauty. I highly recommend Beautycounter, but here I have also included a few other companies that I love as well.
Cleansers:
Beautycounter Charcoal Cleansing Bar
One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser
Toners:
Primally Pure Neroli Complexion Mist (really, they have a great line of toners and products here. This is a fantastic company!)
Moisturizers/Serums/Creams:
Primally Pure Blue Tansy Beauty Cream
Body Care:
Hair Care:
Monat is THE best in combining the best of science, performance, and natural ingredients to create a haircare line that even professionals would recommend. I highly recommend you check out my sister on Instagram (@sheenarush) to find the best hair care system for you. Plus, their customer appreciation program is one of my favorite programs to be a part of, as they are extremely generous. This is pretty much the ONLY hair care line I use now for my processed hair.
Family/Kids/Men:
Primally Pure The Baby Kit
Regarding Men: There are unfortunately not a ton of products out there for men that I absolutely love, and given the fact that I currently only shop for a 10 year old boy, I am going to encourage you to not pressure yourself in finding the absolutely best product for your man. No offense gentlemen, but you are HARD! You are also really stubborn and you apparently like what you like. Haha! So ladies, the pressure is off of you. But these are available for you to check out if your man is a willing participant.
Deodorant:
Hopefully, that will help you get started. Again, start with what you need to replenish now. Whatever you need to purchase now in order to replenish, that would be a great item to switch. I have switched my items over the last few years, so it won't all happen overnight.
You got this and make this fun! I love discovering new products and companies, and honestly I enjoy shopping. Plus, it gives me an excuse to practice a little additional self care with my new products.
In Him,
Tiffany
